iedmont Community Health Plan, Inc. offers two basic plan designs for healthcare coverage. These plans are offered through local employers, which can select a number of options based on the organization's size and desired benefits.

Self-insured arrangements for larger organizations are provided through the parent company, Piedmont Community Health Plan. Fully insured arrangements are provided through our wholly owned subsidiary, Piedmont Community HealthCare. All plans use the same Piedmont Community Health Plan network of physicians and other healthcare providers.

Piedmont Community HealthCare also provides a special plan for Federal employees through the Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB).

In early 2008 Piedmont Community HealthCare converted our corporate structure from a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) to a comprehensive accident and sickness insurer under the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia.  We are now pleased to introduce LocalSelect™ as our new insurance product line.

All plans will be transitioned to the new LocalSelect product beginning with March 2008 renewals.  So what does this mean to you as a Piedmont member?

It means unchanged access to the same comprehensive network of physicians and hospitals you are accustomed to, and the ability to continue to receive services outside the network for emergencies, or when medically necessary.  Moreover, it means you get continued superior customer service on the local level with one-on-one medical management attention.  LocalSelect will also offer a wider range of benefit options and more competitive pricing for employers.

If you have any questions, please contact our customer service representatives at 434-947-4463, or toll free at 1-800-400-7247, and choose option 1.  With LocalSelect, we look forward to continuing to provide you and your family with the best value and service in healthcare and wellness.
